Holy Cross School is a special place. It embodies community and more importantly, Faith. I went to this school throughout my entire childhood and the lessons I learned there cannot be matched. Sometimes though, I do forget how it felt to walk the halls, to be part of such a small class, and how it felt to be treated like family by each person who works there. Teachers, janitors, students, and Principals alike, each person who walks through the front door is special.
Like me, my younger sister attended this school since she was three. For most kids “graduating” from 8th grade is not a big deal, it just means you get now to go to high school with your friends from middle school. For Holy Cross kids though, it is the end of the line. The day when we leave our one hallway school and step foot into a much bigger world. A world where God is often an afterthought and you become a small fish in a big pond.
They prepare us well though by instilling confidence, education, and Faith. They ensure we are ready to go out and make our mark on the world.
My 8th grade graduation was special like every other Holy Cross graduate’s was. With a dance, a special mass, and a final walk through the hallway with our peers, we got the time to give our friends hugs and say goodbye to the teachers and staff we loved so dearly. In the midst of everything going on, my sister didn’t get this experience. Compared to other things happening in the world, this is insignificant to many, but to us who have been there it is a big deal and it is sad.
The photos below show what they did for this year’s 8th grade graduates, instead of the past traditions. I think it was amazing and shows just how much love comes in and out of the school every day.
To the Staff at Holy Cross thank you for making her day just as special as mine was, even in the midst of a global pandemic.
Thank you for the love and support you give to each student. Thank you for your investment into their futures, I know I am grateful for the part this school played in mine.
